The International Centre for Sustainable Carbon cooperates with the USEA in a variety of ways to encourage the optimum use of coal worldwide. An example from 2018 is the contributions to two USAID workshops, as part of the USAID Greening the Grid Programme, in Delhi, India. USEA organised these activities, held in March 2018 on behalf of USAID. A total of three days of intensive training by organisations including the International Centre for Sustainable Carbon was provided for staff from the national and area electricity distribution boards and from national, regional and private generating companies. The focus was on increasing the flexibility of coal-fired power plants in the context of the rapid growth in renewables-based generation in India. Dr Colin Henderson provided the ICSC input.
