A key outcome of the COP28 climate change conference held in Dubai in December 2023, was an agreement to transition away from fossil fuels in a “just, orderly, and equitable manner”. Indeed, the main headline from the UN organisers emerging from the talks was that COP28 signalled the “beginning of the end of the fossil fuel era”.
