Carbon capture, utilisation and storage (CCUS) is widely recognised as a key climate change mitigation technology, with the ability to reduce emissions in “hard to abate” sectors such as iron and steel, chemicals and thermal power generation, thereby helping to meet net zero emissions goals. However, it has yet to achieve the anticipated scale-up and investment flows needed. In this presentation, Greg Cook gives an overview of the current state of play for carbon pricing to support CCUS and an outlook on how international, regional and national carbon market developments could further support technology deployment.
