Power projects using methane from coal mines, CCC/112

Methane gas has at least twenty times the global warming potential of carbon dioxide. Recently, methane from coal mines has been receiving attention as both a cause for concern to the environment as well as a potential source of energy. CMM (coal mine methane) fired power plants are being constructed in several countries around the world, most notably in Australia, Germany and China. This report identifies the CMM gas-fired power plant currently in operation, under construction and at the planning and development stage. Where possible, details are included on location, capacity, process configuration and equipment manufacturer.
