The International Centre for Sustainable Carbon

The International Centre for Sustainable Carbon (ICSC) legacy website holds independent information and analysis on how coal, biomass and waste can become cleaner sources of energy and other products, compatible with the UN Sustainable Development Goals. The work available here was produced during the 50 year life of the ICSC (1975-2025).

We encourage everyone to make use of our free resources!

ICSC 1975-2025

The International Centre for Sustainable Carbon was supported by governments and industries, ensuring global insight, significant impact and strong collaboration. The ICSC offered independent, policy relevant expertise on critically important energy and environment issues, combined with dissemination and outreach. The Centre was non-profit making and funded primarily by member subscription.

This legacy website serves as a library containing most of our publications:

Our relationship to the IEA (International Energy Agency)

The International Centre for Sustainable Carbon was part of a network of autonomous collaborative partnerships focused on a wide range of energy technologies known as Technology Collaboration Programmes (TCPs). The TCPs are organised under the auspices of the International Energy Agency (IEA), but the TCPs are functionally and legally autonomous. Views, findings and publications of the International Centre for Sustainable Carbon do not necessarily represent the views or policies of the IEA Secretariat or its individual member countries.
